"Consultant": Not a "dirty word" anymore!
There was a time when contracting with a consultant was considred a sign of "weakness" to a successful manager/business owner. Today, all successful businesses rely on some fashion of consultant at some point in their lifespan. The most successfull ones understand the financial benefits that come from contracting a consultant versus hiring a "permanent" employee (if there is really such a creature in today's business climate). Your staff may be perfectly capable of handling "special projects" that come up in your business activities. If so, congratulations, you are among the fortunate few. We've found that many times our consultants not only save our clients money on a given project but can also provide cost saving measures that continue after the project is completed.
As an example, a client company that came to us for Debt Management, was able to land the security contract for the NBA All-Star week in Denver CO in 2005. They had to expand their workforce of 20 to over 130 in less than 60 days. They also had to schedule manpower for 24/7 coverage of 5 hotels and over 30 separate "high-profile" events. We assigned two experienced consultants to the task, full time. DBS coordinated with NBA officials before, during and after the event while enabling our client to continue his normal operations without interuption. The letter of commendation from the NBA to our client confirmed that our "consultants" were assumed to be part of our client's staff. This indicates the value of our consultants becoming part of your "team" to accomplish specific goals whether short or long term.
Once your project is completed, our representative is no longer part of your cost structure, but is available, as needed, in the future. We encourage our consultants to stay informed of the condition of their past client's business and stay abreast of economic conditions that may affect them. It is part of our service to you that we may contact you with information pertinent to your business, after our contract is fullfilled.
